Bradford Christian Academy Adds Grade Level, New Curriculum For 2005-2006 School Year

Announces Partnership with School Technology Programs from Boston University and University of Richmond; Adds Foreign Languages to Studies

BRADFORD, MA, Aug. 8, 2005 – Bradford Christian Academy has announced that it will add a 10th grade class and expand its academics program for the 2005/2006 school year to include new foreign language classes as well as an integrated technology curriculum for students. The school also announced plans to expand its athletics program during the upcoming school year.

Bradford Christian Academy will offer both Spanish and Latin studies this fall. It has added several highly experienced educators to its faculty to teach these new courses as well as expanded programs in math, science, writing, literature, drama and other 10th grade curriculum.

The new integrated technology program, which is designed to enhance academic subject areas including language arts, math, science and social studies, will be offered through a partnership with School Technology Programs from Boston University and The University of Richmond. The technology program also encompasses comprehensive computer training for teachers, curriculum support topics, and access to the School Technology Programs website, which features an online resource center as well as links to more than 1,200 educational websites for teachers and students.

The school is also expanding its technology lab to include 16 new state-of-the-art computer work stations with flat panel monitors, running the latest Microsoft® Office software.

According to headmaster Larry George, the developments reflect the school’s focus on providing a challenging academics program and also its long-term strategy to become a regional college preparatory school for middle and high school students, grades 6-12.

“We’re focused on providing an exceptional education that will equip our students to succeed in their pursuit of higher education. Our class sizes are small by design so that teachers can offer individualized, personal support to help each student achieve his or her full potential. Our program also integrates faith- and values-based teachings that nurture spiritual growth and provide a strong grounding that equips our students to meet life’s many challenges,” said George.

Bradford Christian Academy is also planning to expand its innovative Physical Education program during the coming school year. Through a partnership with Cedardale Health and Fitness Club, students have access to the Merrimack Valley’s largest health club facility and its certified instructors. Students rotate through courses in swimming, basketball, racquetball, tennis, volleyball, weight and fitness training, and nutrition, and all team sports provide each student a regular opportunity to play. During the upcoming school year, Bradford Christian Academy plans to offer after school, extracurricular sports teams in soccer, basketball and tennis.

Bradford Christian Academy has experienced a rise in enrollment for the upcoming year, reflecting an overall trend in private and faith-based institutions. The impetus for its founding sprang from a group of parents who envisioned a regional educational alternative that offered challenging, college preparatory academics in an environment that also integrated faith-based values. This focus on educational excellence is reflected in student scores well above the national average in standardized tests administered during the 2004/2005 school year. Overall, Bradford Christian Academy students achieved scores averaging two grade levels above the national norm for their actual grade level.

With a campus located at the former Knipe School in Bradford, the school serves students from more than a dozen cities and towns throughout the Merrimack Valley and North Shore as well as New Hampshire towns near the 495 corridor. While it is rooted in Christian teachings, Bradford Christian Academy is independent of any specific church or denomination.

“Our decision to locate our campus in an existing, free-standing school building was based not only on the facility’s configuration and capacity, but also on our decision to be independent of any specific church. In fact, we are very inclusive. Our families and students represent a diverse range of faith and backgrounds, representing 28 different churches in the area,” said George.

Applications for enrollment are now being accepted. For additional information about the school and its programs, families can call 978-373-7900 or visit the website, www.bradfordchristianacademy.org.
